    CLIENTS

    What is a Client?
A Client on 121Translation is the title given to those people who post projects. They are the users who come seeking help from freelance workers.

How does this work for Clients?
After signing up, you can open a project and provide all the details of the translation you want. Translators will then be able to view your project and bid on it. This is similar to an auction, but there is no mandatory end date and you choose the winning bid yourself, you do not have to choose the lowest bid! Once you have chosen a translator they will begin work on your project. That's it!

How much does this cost for Clients?
There is no signup fee and no monthly fee, but you are required to give 121Translation a commission on each completed project. The commission is 5% of your bid (minimum $5).

    How much do translators charge?
The price for translations varies considerably depending on the source and destination languages, complexity of the subject and the length of the document to be translated. Prices range from 5cents per word to 50cents per word, however most translations will probably be in the range of 8-15cents per word. This means that a full page (A4/Letter average 500 words) will cost between $40 and $75 per page. Each translator will quote for the entire job based on the number of words.

Why do I need to supply a word count?
All translators use word or symbol counts to determine the price for a job. 121Translation uses the number of words of the source document.

Do I get a discount for larger documents?
Whether you need 50 or 50,000 words translated the skills required are still the same. Some translators may offer discounts for larger documents. Do not expect massive discounts, most translators base their charges on the amount of time it will take. If you regularly submit jobs for translation then you may qualify for a discount on translation commission.

How do I get a discount on commission?
Currently if you submit and complete 10 translation jobs we will offer a reduced commission on any future translation jobs that you submit.

What happens if I pay for a translation and I am not satisfied with the result?
If this happens then, please, let us know. 121 Translation does not employ translators; it is simply a mechanism for clients and translators to communicate. We will need to know why you are not happy with the translation provided. We will look at any project and mediate. If a mutual agreement cannot be reached then 121 Translation will make a decision.

I paid too much into my 121 account, what happens to the money?
It can remain on your account for your next translation job or if the amount is over $10, the amount can be refunded via PayPal or any other payment mechanism in use by 121 Translation.

Why should I use 121Translation for my translation projects?
Because we will find you the best translators at the price you want to pay. When you post a project on 121Translation, Translators essentially compete for your business. It would take you a long time to request an estimate from as many translators just by browsing the Internet, and you still wouldn't have any real competition going on. Here, translators bid on your project much like an auction. They can place a new bid if they see another translator has placed a lower bid than there's, this will undoubtedly result in a lower price for you. Plus, with no up front fees at 121Translation, you've got nothing to lose! Also, if you have ever had conflicts when agreeing on how to pay a translator, you won't on 121Translation. You can deposit money in several different ways (credit card, e-gold, etc.) and translators can withdraw money in many ways too, which means you don't have to worry about payments!

How do I communicate with translators?
You can post messages on the message boards. If you post a private message, only the user it's addressed to will be able to see it, that user will also be notified by e-mail that you posted a project for them.

    What is PMB?
That's the abbreviation 121Translation members use when referring to the Project Message Board.

Where can I find the message board?
Go to a project and click on the "view message board" link that is found above the list of translator bids.

How do I change my account password?
Login to your account and click on the "Edit Account" link near the top. Then enter a password in the password field, and click the submit button.
