    TRANSLATORS/PAYMENTS

Do I have to be paid for projects through my 121Translation account?
Yes. At the present time all transactions are processed for you and transferred to your 121 account on completion. This is the only way we have to ensure that you are paid.

When do you charge your commission and how much will it be?
As soon as you are chosen as the translator for a project you have bid on it will be closed/archived and you will be charged 5% of your bid, or $2, whichever is greater.

Do I have to add money to my account?
In theory you should never need to add money to your account. However, If your account balance is below zero dollars for more than 30 days your account will be frozen. You will not be able to place any new bids on projects. If you have taken a very large job (more than 30 days work), send us an email at transmail@121Translation.com and we will leave your account open.

How do I add money to my account?
Login to the account management area and click on the "deposit" button.

Can I withdraw money from my account?
Yes, just click the "withdraw money" button in the account management area. You can currently request payment through a PayPal & E-Gold accounts. Note that you cannot withdraw less than $30.00 at a time.

Can I transfer money to another translator on 121Translation?
No, there should be no need to pay other translators. If you need the help of another translator, then you would need to create a ‘Client’ account and post a new project.

If I end up charging the project owner less than I bid on their project, can I get a partial refund on the commission 121Translation takes?
This should not happen. Your bid is for the project. Our fee is calculated on that figure. If the project changes after you have accepted it and both parties agree a lower fee then that is your decision. Our fee, however, remains as agreed.

How does the escrow account payment system work?
All payments are escrow payments. Escrow is a legal term where money is deposited with a neutral third party (121Translation) to be delivered upon fulfilment of certain conditions (the project).

How long does it take for you to send a withdrawal?
PayPal withdrawals are processed within 3 business days. E-Gold withdrawals may take slightly longer.

When do I have to pay the project fee?
The fee is automatically deducted from your 121Translation account, no matter what your balance is at the time. You can deposit money into your account later to cover the fee. If your account remains below zero dollars for 30 days, it will be suspended.

Can I make a deposit or withdrawal using a method not described on 121Translation?
At present we accept deposits and withdrawals by PayPal and e-gold. Other payment methods, such as Western Union, Check and Bank Transfer are being reviewed and may be added in the future. Many payment/withdrawal methods are very expensive; these costs would need to be passed on to the translators and clients. If you have any suggestions, you can contact us and we will consider them.

Why are PayPal withdrawals not instant?
Because PayPal payments cannot be sent using server side software (it must be done manually by a person). Even if PayPal did make such a system possible, 121Translation would probably not use it because of the security issue involved.
