What is a Translator?
A Translator on 121Translation is the term given to a freelance expert or agency interested in providing services. The term is used for users who will bid on the projects that are posted on the site, whether it's for translation, proofreading or interpreting.
How does this work for Translators?
Browse the list of projects posted by clients for the ones you would be interested in, or have 121Translation send you an e-mail every time a new project is posted that fits under your expertise. Then you can decide to place a bid on the project, as well as provide details of the work you can do. Update or retract your bid anytime you want. When the project creator chooses a translator (winning bid) you will be notified. If you are chosen you can begin work on the project and get paid.
How much does this cost for Translators?
There is no signup fee and no monthly fee, but you are required to give 121Translation a commission on each project you win a bid on. The commission is 5% of your bid (minimum $2).
Example: If you are chosen for a project you have bid $200 on, $10 will be deducted from your account.
Why should I use the service 121Translation provides?

How do I communicate with clients?
You can post messages on the message boards. If you post a private message, only the user it's addressed to will be able to see it, that user will also be notified by e-mail that you posted a message for them.
How do I stop receiving notification e-mails about new projects?
Login to your account and click on the "Edit Info" button. You can then uncheck the box for receiving notifications.
What if for whatever reason, the project fails? Can I get a refund on the project fee I was charged?
Use http://www.121Translation.com/cancel.shtml to submit a project cancellation request. You might be eligible for a refund.
Where can I find the message board?
Go to a project and click on the "view message board" link that is found above the list of translators bids.
How do I change my account password?
Login to your account and click on the "Edit Account" link near the top. Then enter a password in the password field, and click the submit button.
How are rankings and points determined?
Points are calculated using a mathematical formula that considers, for each project a freelancer has participated in, the rating given to the freelancer and the amount of the bid. The reviewer's own total rating also affects, although much less, the points awarded to the freelancer.
Rankings are determined based on those points by comparing the points to other freelancers' scores. Only freelancers considered active are included in the rankings. Several factors determine active status on 121Translation, including having received a review recently.
Please note that rankings don't necessarily represent the skills of the translators compared to others, but is more of an indicator to how many projects they've completed and the dollar value of those projects.
